Abstract
A unidirectional horizontal shift of the magnetic hysteresis loop, the exchange bias effect (EB-effect) is observed when the system is field cooled below the Neel temperature of the antiferromagnet AFM. It is widely accepted that pinned, and uncompensated spins of the AFM are responsible for the exchange bias effect. Here we analyse MFM and magnetometry data obtained on two different exchange biased AFM/FM systems. Both samples contain Co/Pt multilayers as ferromagnetic layers.
