Abstract :
Experiments were performed at the NAVOCEANO Lab in Bay St.Louis, MS, to study the sensor step responses of the XCTD (conductivity cell flushing length, in particular). These experiments were the first of their kind on the Sippican XCTD and were exploratory in nature. A quantitative characterization of the interfaces generated at the NAVOCEANO drop test facility, a measurement of the temperature response time constant and an estimate of the conductivity response time constant of the XCTD were obtained in these tests.
