Abstract
It has been shown to be possible to acquire data on the surface temperature rise of gun barrels after firing, using a thermal viewer. If the subject geometry is suitable, single-line repetitive scanning can give adequately fast response times to enable temperature/time curves to be obtained. Some experiments and results obtained with small-caliber barrel firings are discussed
