Abstract
The selection, for a later development, of an important set of investments between the total set of investment opportunities from an electric utility company in front of all kind of limitations that can exist in it, presents a great complexity decision problem, difficult to solve with success without the help of as much the necessary financial knowledge, as the adequate operational research techniques. Complexity is pointed, on one hand by diversity related to nature, value and risk of investments which compete for the same resources, and on the other by the variety of existent limitations for its realization. The decision process, faced with an enough number of investment possibilities, unavoidably finalizes in an investment planning which takes into account as much the mutual characteristics of each one of the candidate investments as the interactions between them and any other limitation which could exist, obliged or due to company policy
