Abstract :
Circular-Polarization-Selective Surfaces (CPSS) are structures that reflect one sense of circular polarization and transmit the other. While known designs are made with vias that may be difficult to fabricate for high frequency structures, the proposed design is a simple cascade of two meander-line circular polarizers with a linear polarizer between them. Experimental results are compared with simulations for normal incidence. It is shown that the selected circular polarization transmission has a 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of more than 5 GHz, with an insertion loss of 0.4 dB and an undesired polarization rejection of 22 dB at the center frequency of 19 GHz.
