Abstract :
A set of necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a coordinate transformation that renders a given nonlinear system exactly state-equivalent to a linear, reachable system is presented. When it exists, the transformation can be obtained from the solution to a set of partial differential equations that represent rectification conditions for a set of commuting vector fields that are defined for the nonlinear system
