Abstract :
In this paper, a broadband left-handed (LH) rectangular waveguide is presented. The unit cell of the metamaterial structure consists of two double L-shaped short stubs and two E-plane posts in a rectangular waveguide. The E-plane posts are crossly connected to two stubs which are embodied in the top and bottom plane of a rectangular waveguide. The metamaterial waveguide is modeled as a 2-port network crossly connected equivalent circuit. It has a broad double negative (DNG) band and good transmission characteristic. The simulated and measured results of the LH waveguide constructed with 5 unit cells prove a broad LH band of 12.7%.
