Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a novel relay concept setting the relay station (RS) on the middle of adjacent cells with multi-user MIMO transmission to improve the channel capacity of the mobile station (MS) around the cell edge. In the proposed method, the RS has multiple receiver antennas and transmitter antennas for relaying the data from both adjacent cells to multiple MSs located on the different cells. The proposed multi-cell shared multi-user MIMO relay method improves the channel capacity even if the transmit data and the channel state information (CSI) are not shared between adjacent BSs. The channel capacity of the proposed method is evaluated by computer simulation and we have confirmed that the channel capacity of the MS located around the cell edge can increase compared with other MIMO relay transmission methods.
