Abstract :
In this paper a new reliable and low-latency video-on-demand (VOD) broadcasting protocol is proposed. Most existing VOD broadcasting protocols have no protection against frame loss. In order to acquire loss-resiliency, we encode each segment of a partitioned video with an unequal error protection (UEP) rateless code. Using this error correction encoding scheme beside gaining error resiliency, the inevitable VOD broadcasting startup delay reduces significantly. Furthermore, we present a modified version of our protocol with reduced bandwidth requirement on the client side.
