Abstract :
In this paper, a three dimensional structure of reconfigurable slot antenna is proposed. The antenna is constructed by five pieces of PCBs etched with slots and arranged in a vertical block shape. The block is then placed on top of another PCB in which a probe is presented to excite the three dimensional slot. Various radiation characteristics can be achieved depending on the slot topology. The resonant frequency of the demonstrated volume filling antenna is able to be reconfigured from 1.6 GHz to 4.4 GHz. It is also shown that the antenna can generate dual-band resonances and perform radiation pattern diversity.
