Abstract :
In this paper we experiment with a testbed consisting of an array of industrial switches to examine the impact of daisy chaining to frame forwarding performance. Using a customized EtherCAT master, a high precision measurement loop was created. Tests in different traffic situations and chain lengths were performed. The aim is examine whether Ethernet can provide adequate QoS in case of longer switch cascade.
