Abstract :
Summary form only given. Presents details of a single pass, high gain, ultra-broad band table top pre-amplifier that we have constructed using all commercial products as part of the new ultra-short pulse front-end of the Vulcan Nd:glass laser system. The amplifier operates at 1053 nm and has numerous features that offer significant advantages over traditional methods of amplification at this wavelength, such as directly in Nd:glass or through the use of Ti:sapphire based regenerative amplifier systems.
