Abstract :
In this paper we present the physical model of the process of the dielectric insulation breakdown. This phenomenological model leads to the fractal nature of the discharge in the dielectrics. The considered process of the discharge is the process of the electric charge flow from one electrode to another, along the complex tree-like set of the channels, forming fractal tree. The process of the electric charge flow is reduced to the interlacing of the following stages: laminar stage, during which, the channel of the fractal tree is getting thicker and longer by the evolution way; stage of the specific currents instability of the electric charge flow, and process of the fractal tree branching; and stable mode of the charge´s flow (similar to the mode for the planar diode).
