Abstract
Using finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, the transient scattered Brillouin precursors of a perfectly electrically conductive (PEC) cylinder in lossy dispersive media are studied. The lower propagation attenuation of precursor results in larger signal amplitude than the carrier wave for incident wave at the object surface. From the scattered precursors, the scattering mechanisms are represented clearly although the signals are weakened due to the heavy conductive loss. This characteristic has potential applications to obtain the information of objects in lossy dispersive media.
