  • Abstract
Modern telematics devices use MEMS sensors to provide new features such as characterization of driving events and crashes. Accurate reporting requires information on device to vehicle frame misalignment. Paper provides a simple method for in-motion azimuth alignment of a consumer grade inertial measurement unit. Testing is done using real vehicle in regular urban driving conditions. Presented methods estimate azimuth angle with standard deviation better than 1°.
