Abstract :
The analytical solution of chatter stability limits for peripheral milling process has provided a useful tool for cutting conditions optimization of high speed milling. However, there exists a lot of discrepancy when it is applied to medium and low speed milling. Based on the analytical chatter stability model, cutting tests and numerical simulations were conducted, and the suitable number of lobes was selected so that the analytical simulation algorithm can be applied to medium and low speed milling with a high precision of predication.
