Summary form only given. We report here for the first time to our knowledge on the use of V/sup 3+/:YAG for passive Q-switching of diode-pumped Yb/sup 3+/:KGd(WO/sub 4/)/sub 2/ (Yb:KGW) laser. Laser emission at two wavelengths simultaneously was obtained due to Raman conversion of fundamental laser emission in the laser crystal.
