Abstract :
Summary form only given. Passive Q-switching of solid-state lasers with saturable absorbers attracted much attention in the recent years. However, very few solid-state saturable absorbers were reported for lasers operating around 2 /spl mu/m. This work is dedicated to an investigation of Cr/sup 2+/:Cd/sub 0.55/Mn/sub 0.45/Te crystals as saturable absorbing Q-switchers for a 2.09 /spl mu/m Cr,Tm,Ho:YAG laser.
