Abstract
Summary form only given. We performed a comparative study of the two Cr:YAG crystals, codoped with Mg (0.3 at%) and Ca (0.5 at%). The study includes analysis of the laser output characteristics, differential absorption spectra of irradiated and cold crystals as well as transmission kinetics of the crystals, which were pumped around 1 /spl mu/m. Kinetics were taken in the operating laser as well as without lasing. The influence of the temperature as well as of the pump power is considered. Slow bleaching (photoinduced anomalous absorption saturation) was observed in both crystals.
