Abstract :
Summary form only given. Experiments on low-frequency dynamics of a solid-state laser with intracavity second harmonic generation (SHG) demonstrate the importance of interactions of two orthogonally polarized modes, participating in frequency conversion (type II phase matching) on the instability of laser output, called "green problem". In the present experiment we investigated the emission dynamics of a 50 mm long Nd:YAG laser, intracavity doubled with a temperature controlled KTP crystal. The laser oscillates in 2-4 longitudinal modes of one polarization and in 1-2 modes of the orthogonal polarisation at 1064 nm.
