Abstract
In this paper, effects of MgO intermediate layer on the structure and magnetic properties of FePt film were investigated. The metal-oxide interface on the growth of initial layer in FePt layer was also discussed. Magnetic measurements show that the out-of-plane M-H loops display perpendicular anisotropy and coercivity, Hc of about 3.3 kOe even when MgO is 1 nm thick, deposited at 50degC.
