  • Abstract
The magnetic and structural properties of highly chemically ordered epitaxial (Fe1-xMnx)50Pt50 L10 (0lesxles0.4) thin films are investigated. Highly chemically ordered (Fe1-xMnx)50Pt50 (0lesxles0.4) is deposited epitaxially on MgO (100) substrates at 550degC by magnetron co-sputtering from two alloy targets. The epitaxial quality, degree of chemical ordering, and lattice constants for the epitaxial films are determined from specular and grazing incidence X-ray diffraction. Saturation magnetization, Ms, and anisotropy constant, K1, are measured in a maximum field of 2 T using a commercial vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) spectra of the Fe and Mn L2,3 edges are taken.
