Abstract :
Summary form only given. In this paper, the characteristics of pump power dependent transparency carrier density of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) are simulated numerically, based on a comprehensive pulse model for describing the propagation and the amplification of strong optical pulses in SOAs. A detailed material gain model is also used for calculating optical gains and refractive index. The numerical simulations show good agreement with published experimental measurements.
