Abstract :
In this 2nd generation of Internet-based service or more known as Web 2.0 has brought greater collaboration among the society. Among Web 2.0 instruments that have contributed to its success is blogging. Gender has constantly been used as a determinant factor on how a person use, review or publish blogs. In this paper, gender disparity towards blogging awareness among Malaysian higher education institution students is discussed. It indicates that female are regular blog users and they prefer to read blogs that are feeling expression-oriented while male are vice versa and more likely to read blogs that are entertainment-oriented. Discovering which gender dominates blogging may consider further significant studies in the future for blogging applications and potential instruments for 3rd generation Internet-based services known as web 3.0 or semantic web.
