Abstract :
This paper introduces a new application of multipath shape factors that greatly simplifies the description of Nakagami-m fading channel. The three shape factors are angular spread, angular constriction and azimuthal direction of maximum fading. They are introduced to describe the first-order and second-order statistics of received signal fluctuations in a multipath fading channel. Analytical expressions for level-crossing rate and average fade duration of the most important second-order statistics are both introduced using the shape factor theory. Furthermore, these three shape factors are applied to first-order and second-order Nakagami-m fading channel, then comparison of reduced fading channel with three shape factor and Nakagami-m fading channel is given.
