Abstract :
In 40-60 kHz, the acoustic resonance band of 250 W metal halide (MH) lamps is studied. The theoretical prediction and experimental observation shows no same bands in which various MH lamps can operate stably. But the injection of approximate low-frequency sine wave modulation is effective method for eliminating acoustic resonance if the center operating frequency of electronic ballast is beyond 47 kHz. Experimental results of ballast prototype support the proposed approach.
