Abstract :
IP Traceback schemes designed for wired networks are not suitable for wireless networks, especially for Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANET) due to mobility effects including IP address handoff, splitting and merging. In this paper, we address this problem by proposing a new scheme suitable for MANET networks, called SDPPM "selective and deterministic pipelined packet marking". The approach is based on adapting the IP traceback approach proposed in [Basheer and Minimaran, 2004] for wired networks. Simulation results show that the traffic overhead introduced by the traceback scheme does not affect the network performance.
