Abstract :
Summary form only given. Energy transfer characteristics from Yb/sup 3+/ to Tm/sup 3+/ ions have been examined in different oxide lattices including YAP (YAlO/sub 3/) as well as YAG (Y/sub 3/Al/sub 5/O/sub 12/). It has been shown that the energy transfer coefficients differ considerably.
