Abstract
Based on sensor array technology and pattern recognition, this paper proposes a new method which can obtain the accurate number of passengers who are waiting for elevators in each floor. By utilizing simplified tactile sensor array, the pressure distribution images can be fetched. Through counting the number of footprints by pattern recognition system, volume of passenger traffic in each floor can be calculated. Hence a much more accurate mathematical model to optimize elevator group control can be established.
