Abstract
A novel optimized space vector modulation for voltage source inverter fed induction motor drives, based on an adaptive modulation frequency selection algorithm, is presented in the paper. It considerably reduces the drop voltage due to the dead time effect of the inverter power modules and allows to increase the overall drive performances. The proposed system has been manufactured on a programmable logic device digital board. For validation, an experiment has been set up and several tests have been performed. The results have been compared with the ones achieved by means of the traditional space vector modulation technique.
