Abstract
This article describes the use of an artificial neural network (ANN) for facilitating the design and evaluation of a direct manipulation multimodal interface with force feedback. The article describes the Multimodal User Interface System (MUIS) prototyping tool, discusses the design problem, develops the conceptual basis of ANNs, and discusses the results of the experimentation protocol used for evaluating the pertinence of our approach
