Abstract
Next generations of wireless systems will support multi-standard data communication. Not only will they support voice and multimedia data through cellular network, they will also be convergent with fixed wireless access (WiMax) and WLAN to deliver voice and multimedia data over the Internet whenever possible. Due to the widely spread frequency bands and bandwidths, most existing multi-standard wireless devices use separate chipsets or stacked radios to support different standards. In this paper, a combo GSM/WCDMA/Wi-Fi triple-standard transceiver architecture, which shares as much hardware as possible, is proposed and analyzed. The system design is targeting implementation in deep submicron CMOS such as TSMC0.18-mum.
