Abstract
This article describes a vision inspection system for the surface defects in steel plate. By the combination of computer vision and virtual instrument technology, we achieved the automatic detection and discrimination of the defects such as rust, scratches, roller imprints, and pits etc. We used the line CCD camera to capture the images of moving steel plate, transmitting to the computer by Cameralink cable, therefore defects could be displayed, printed, stored and alarmed by the mainstream development platform-LabVIEW finally. The system used a way of model design, the hardware and software upgraded easier.
