Abstract :
For data acquisition frontend developments as ADCs, TDCs and custom logics, we are moving to MicroTCA based systems. Our current backplane interconnect, based on a 80MB/S differential parallel (SCSI-like) data link is hitting its throughput limits. MicroTCA gives us enough bandwith for the foreseeable future, and allows to choose from a broad range of carrier and power supply options. The new frontend boards uses a XILINX Virtexδ FPGA for logics and serial interconnects, and a Microchip PIC32 microcontroller for board management.
