  • Abstract
The substitution of the linear resonant inductor by a nonlinear one so that inductance value decreases with increasing load current was proposed to overcome the difficulty found in the zero-voltage switching quasi-resonant converters and extended to full-bridge zero-voltage switched PWM converter. This paper presents a survey of the behavior of the ZVS converter with a nonlinear resonant inductor. This paper analyzes the buck ZVS-QRC, FB-ZVS-PWM and half-bridge ZVS-QRC, with a nonlinear resonant inductor and compared with a linear resonant inductor. Experimental results of several prototypes of converters, an extensive theoretical analysis and simulation results are presented to illustrate the behavior of ZVS converters
