Abstract :
In order to develop an efficient driving system for electric vehicle (EV), a test system using motors has been built to simulate the driving performance of EVs. In the test system, the PID controller is used to control the rotating speed of the motor when the EV is being driven. In this paper, in order to improve the performance of the speed control, a neural network is applied to tune the parameters of the PID controller. It is shown through experiments that a neural network can reduce the output error effectively while the PID controller parameters are being tuned online.
