  • Abstract
System integrity protection scheme (SIPS) is designed to ensure the security of power system against structural outages and major disturbances. With the aid of modern technologies, such as synchrophasors, SIPS can offer more reliable protection by processing both local and system-wide measurements. Dynamic security monitoring plays an important role in SIPS to facilitate timely arming and corrective actions. In this paper, the approach based on an intelligent system (IS) has been proposed to achieve dynamic security level monitoring according to the received measurements and a variety of transient stability indices. Through the preliminary tests carried out on Taiwan power system (TPS), it is shown that the approach has high potential in detecting the insecurity features.
