Abstract
The present study was to examine the relationship between dictation scores measured by the mean score of five class dictation tests and English proficiency of Chinese learners measured by TEM-4. 106 subjects, Grade 2, majoring in English, participated in the study. First, subjects did one dictation per week for five weeks in the classrooms equipped with the multimedia before TEM-4. Then the Pearson Correlation Coefficient between the mean scores of five dictations and their total scores in TEM-4 were processed by SPSS (Statistical Programs for the Social Sciences). The research result is: Chinese English learners´ dictation scores have a positive correlation with their language proficiency.
