Abstract
A normalization technique leading to a constant false alarm receiver in the cases where noise and signal are not additive is presented. The algorithm presented is mainly based on a log transform followed by a fixed and adaptive sorting. Some results obtained on a real signal (neutron noise) are given. They show the superiority of the method over classical smoothing approaches from the noise alone reference (NAR) point of view
