  • Abstract
In this paper, a silicon compiler for analog fuzzy controllers is presented. Starting from a set of user specifications, such as number of inputs, outputs and rules, and static power consumption, the architecture of the controller is selected, and a netlist of basic building blocks is produced. These blocks have been designed and laid out for a 0.8 micron CMOS technology. The resulting controller can be simulated using SPICE and laid out using standard cell tools. The MIN-PROD rule of composition has been selected for the inference process. An innovative method for limiting power consumption has been devised for this kind of fuzzy controllers. For this purpose, the winner-take-all circuit which implements the MIN operator, periodically deactivates its loosing inputs. For non-fast varying input signals, considerable power saving can be achieved
