Abstract :
This work presents the results for temperature-rise, power-dissipation measurement and breaking-capacity tests on a prototype model during the development of a current-limiting high-voltage fuse. The power-dissipation and temperature-rise measurements are made when rated current was passed through the fuse carrier. The temperature of various parts of the fuse-link has been measured using thermocouples: the results are within the limits set by several international standards. The upper limit of the results obtained by the power-dissipation measurements is around 110 W. The results of successive breaking tests, during the development work, for Test Duty 1 - at 11 kV, 20 kA - show gradual improvements.
