Abstract :
Order picking is a common activity taking place in many different types of industries, distribution centers, storages and warehouses. Numerous design and cost parameters, combined with an endless variety of equipment types, make it difficult to specify an order picking system. Since the customer service requirement in the cosmetic industry is still very changeable and, therefore, a flexible, highly productive and cost-effective picking system is essential for the manufacturer´s order picking system. Storage equipment and picking face size selection are significant parts of a picking system. A two-stage evaluation approach is applied to select optimal storage mode and optimal picking methods.
