Abstract
Neuron-type operation can be performed in the optical domain by using stimulated Raman scattering (SRS). The threshold of a neuron can be controlled by varying the Stokes wave power and/or wavelength. Intensity weighting for the incoming signals is considered. The optical weighted summation is a parallel process. Therefore, it can increase the processing speed. Simulation results are obtained by considering SRS in an optical fiber. However, the process is general and should be applicable for other materials
