Abstract

In order to operate large calibre electric guns within the trilateral European Electric Gun Program, a 30 MJ pulsed power facility has been developed and installed at the Rheinmetall proving ground in Unterluss, Germany. The facility bases on a capacitive 30 MJ pulsed power supply system being exposed by its large flexibility in the performance characteristics. After a technical description of the system architecture and parameters, a selected number of subsystems are reported in detail. Further, the paper gives an overview of the results obtained from the performance tests conducted so far.
