Abstract
We derive an analytic expression for the point spread function, using the concept of coarrays, for wideband pulse-echo imaging of targets. We analyze the performance of the imaging system under finite and infinite range conditions. The results provide a better understanding of the interplay between bandwidth, element locations, weighting of the elements, pulse shape within the bandwidth, and imaging performance. This leads to new insights on array and pulse design. We support our results through computer simulations
