Abstract :
This paper proposes a triggering mechanism for frame-start detector (FSD) employing a combining strategy for MIMO-OFDM systems with zero correlation zone (ZCZ) code preamble, assuming transmission over a relatively fast fading mobile wireless channel. The channel coefficients are allowed to vary within the duration of an OFDM symbol. The triggering technique exploits average power estimation at both receive antennas and comparing the individual estimation with a threshold. The proposed method is capable of achieving 0.99 probability of correct triggering at high SNR region (SNR>8dB) when simulated with the flat fading channel having normalized Doppler frequency of 10-3.
