Abstract :
/sup M/easurements with a horizontal receiving array antenna and a horizontal rough surface reflector in an anechoic chamber are used to study hot clutter (terrain reflected jamming) in radar. We want to model hot clutter as a prerequisite for suppressing the jamming. The motion of radar targets, jammers and surface is simulated by moving the reflector. Our analysis shows that the number of noncoherent impinging signals depends on the number of sources, the correlation between the sources, the strength of the sources and the degree of decorrelation of the reflected signals that occur during the data acquisition. The Capon direction-of-arrival spectrum (DOA) gives a high quality picture of the impinging power from the direct and reflected signals if the signals are noncoherent. The eigenvector antenna patterns show the reflection region and the DOAs to the direct signals. These patterns also indicate the number of signals.
