Abstract
With a combination of apt-X100 digital audio data compression and the latest developments in RF spread spectrum technology (SST) for operation in the 2.4 GHz segment of the S-band it is possible to exchange high quality audio over a full duplex link. When fitted with suitable antennae this RF transceiver can either bridge a short gap or act as a stand alone, point to point, two way high quality audio link up to 50 km long. Although capable of producing a transmitter power output of 650 mW if operated with the radiated power limited to 100 mW (20 dBm), then in most countries there is no requirement for an operating license. This link can be configured to operate at 128 or 256 kbit/s and is capable of delivering audio bandwidths from 7.5 kHz to 15 kHz, stereo or mono dual channels
