Abstract :
Three classes of OSI (open system interconnection) routing protocols have been defined by the ISO (International Standardization Organization): end system to intermediate system (ES-IS), intra-domain intermediate system to intermediate system (IS-IS), and inter-domain IS-IS. A simulation tool developed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to aid in the design and performance evaluation of the European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA) inter-domain IS-IS protocol proposal is described. The inner-workings of the simulation tool and how it models the ECMA protocol are discussed. Finally, a set of experiments are defined that test the performance of the routing algorithm defined by ECMA
