Abstract :
HyperPhone is an experimental prototype that provides a conversation-like voice interface to voice documents and voice applications. The prototype uses a specialized object-based hypermedia system in conjunction with off-the-shelf voice I/O peripherals. Various artificial intelligence techniques can provide enhanced usability in applications such as telephone service negotiation, proceduralized online help for custom calling features, and intra-company online information resources, through a set of agents and models that may be either generic across users and applications or tailored to the needs and preferences of individuals. These techniques are discussed
